Google Photos now offers a new way for couples to manage their pictures together. The company announced the “Partner Account” feature today. This option lets two people combine their Google Photos storage into one shared pool.

Users can link their individual Google accounts. They create a single Partner Account. Both people then use the shared storage for their photos and videos. This simplifies managing storage limits. Both partners see the total storage available in one place. They don’t need to check two separate accounts anymore.

Google says this feature helps people save money. Couples often pay for extra storage separately. Now they might only need one larger storage plan. The shared pool counts all photos and videos from both accounts. It includes existing items and anything new added.

Setting up a Partner Account is voluntary. Each person must agree to link their accounts. Users keep their own Google accounts and sign-ins. Only the storage pool is combined. Photos and videos remain private to each account holder unless shared deliberately. Partners cannot automatically see each other’s pictures.

The Partner Account appears as a new section in the Google Photos app. Users see their combined storage total clearly. Managing the shared storage settings is straightforward. Both partners have equal control over the storage plan and settings.

“People take countless photos,” said a Google Photos representative. “Managing storage separately can be confusing. This makes it simpler for couples. They share their lives, now they can share their storage too.”
